American Vampire

American Vampire is a comic book from the mind of Scott Snyder and is ridiculous! It's totally about vampires but not at all in a cheesy way, and is actually very original and insightful. The whole thing kicks off with the creation of a new species of vampire--the American vampire, in the late 1800's and it spirals through the decades from there. Rafael Albuquerque is the principle, but not only, illustrator. His drawing style, while loose and fluid, has a real weight to it which really suits the tone of the story.

This is an example of his work, character design sketches of Skinner Sweet and Pearl Jones. Two of the main characters in the first 3 volumes of the series. American Vampire is divided into individual issues, but so far 3 volumes have been compiled, with the 4th volume set to be released in October 2012 I think. So worth a read, not only for the great imagery, but also for the captivating stories.

So, lately I've been just been doing lots of sketches, almost been in a bit of a rut, can't imagine finished works for some reason. Development times I guess!

I drew a little green house!

I know it might not seem like much, and that it's a bit pants! But I am seriously bad at drawings when it comes to any sort of scenery and so this seems to be a step in the right direction! ha.
